What does Deep Ellum mean to you?
Gracy Fowler
I have been attending the original deep Ellum arts fest since I was a child, its always inspired me. now being an adult doing art shows full time I would love the opportunity to participate this year even with my late application!!!
Jonah Ballard
I have a passion to make my art accessible to everyone and Deep Ellum will allow me to do that. I have been traveling the country with my family on a mission to bring my art in person to people around the country, not just on social media. I am in a new city every weekend and I would love to bring my work to this event.
Hannah Wood
To me, Deep Ellum represents the resilience of creative communities. While I’m not from Texas, I know what it means to be part of an artistic community that bands together in crisis. I’ve dug fellow artists’ work from the mud, brought meals to studios with no power for months, raised funds for those who lost everything, and cried alongside friends as we rebuild. This solidarity transformed me. I stopped creating for just myself and I am creating for the healing of others.
Brandon Rhodes
Its the place I got to see alot of my favorite bands for the 1st time. Trees will always be the best spot for a show.
Jesse Brown
Deep Ellum, to me, represents a raw, unfiltered hub of creative energy. From what I’ve seen, it’s a place where art, music, culture, and community collide in an authentic way. That kind of environment feels natural to me, like a space where my work can genuinely connect, contribute, and belong.
Holly Glenn
Deep Ellum is a rich artistic community that supported the arts and art culture. It especially aids in the promotion of regional artists. The community comes out to support creativity!
Dustin Headrick
Linguistically, to me, Deep Ellum means "something sacred". Maybe my style of art accentuates this concept?
David Regone
To me, Deep Ellum is a place where cultures can mix, meld and mingle into something new and special. I've seen some incredible musical performances there and had wonderful evenings with friends.
Anthony Mikkelson
Deep Ellum is a corridor of fun, a place to let loose and grab a bite to eat before a show. I pass through there weekly when I go get groceries and it’s impossible not to look at the people lining the block, wondering what band is in town. Before I even moved down here I went to see shows here, like the Dandy Warhols, and was thankful that I got to see J. Roddy Waldron & the Business at trees before they broke up. It’s a continuous source of cultural expression and is a sorely needed voice in the metroplex.
Ashley Corbello
I'm originally from South Louisiana and am excited to revisit the vibrant southern culture that made me who I am today.
Pavlina Panova
It is exciting to be in this aria of Dallas and a great opportunity to exhibit my art during one of the most popular art festivals and Texas. It is the opportunity to be with other local artists and meet many new people. The entire atmosphere with so many different kind of art, music and people everything is inspiring.
Ayushi Khandelwal
A fun place to unwind from the stressful chaos of life. A place that connects me with the roots of Texas and brings a joy of small local business in my day to day life.
Patrick Oliver
Deep Ellum has been a part of my life since high school. I used to go there with friends for BBQ and to explore new spots. When I turned 21, I got to experience its nightlife—where a lot happened and I learned about the wild side of life. What makes Deep Ellum special to me is its duality. On one side, you have people who deeply care about the community and want to see it grow in a positive direction. On the other, those who seek chaos or experience life unconsciously. That balance—between creation and destruction, structure and freedom—is what makes Deep Ellum unique compared to anywhere else in Dallas. It’s a vivid merge of cultures
John Fesken
Well, Deep Ellum has been in my heart since the early 2000's, having first visited to perform with a music group at a DIY performance space/indoor skatepark. Wild times for sure. From then on it's been on my radar, performing in town several times in the following years. When I started doing art festivals the Deep Ellum art fest quickly became a staple in my yearly art tours. whenever passing through with friends or family we always stop in town for a bite and check out "the big eye" before we split. I've always enjoyed the neighborhood's eclectic scene however it's the people that make a community special and I've met some magical folks ther
