What does Deep Ellum mean to you?
James Cole
Deep Ellum is a cultural hotspot in Dallas. Once known as a significant hub for early jazz and blues artists - it is now an iconic, hip neighborhood where you can find live music, street art, and great food. Deep Ellum is a celebration of art and culture.
Rebecca Wilson
Deep Ellum is a part of Texas with so much soul. Deep Ellum drives to maintain and grow the arts in this vibrant community. Deep Ellum offers a space for new and recurring artists to showcase art. Keeping the culture and the vibe stronger than ever in the great state of Texas.
Whitney Pollock
Deep Ellum represents historical depth, community, inspiration, and opportunity. It's where artist can express themselves without judgment. Deep Ellum is like no other place. I go to Deep Ellum to find inspiration. Deep Ellum brings the city to life.
Carey Nottingham
Deep Ellum is where I attended my first art festival after moving to Dallas in 2013. I felt drawn to the artist community in Deep Ellum long before I began my own artist journey. I experienced a strong sense of local community and passion for art and artists while standing amongst thousands in the crowds. I have had my heart set on being able to one day be a part of that experience as a participant ever since.
Daniel Schemel and Jorge Fernandez
Deep Ellum means a lot to us. We have been artists at the Deep Ellum Arts Festival for over 12 years, so since we are locals, we have experienced the evolution and growth of such an amazing area, and every year we have experienced such huge support to our work by patrons who live and enjoy the area, so we are exited to be part of your event!
Amy Henson
To me, Deep Ellum embodies the spirit of openness, creativity, and acceptance. I love visiting this community. It gives me a feeling of freedom and inspiration. My heart feels lighter after just a few hours here.
Carissa Nalley
Deep Ellum has always been a celebration of the music and arts. I have many core memories of music and dancing in my early 20s. It’s been a place I’ve considered home away from home. I’ve gone through a lot with being raised in an environment that did not nurture my love of art. I was welcomed by Debbie Driscoll and treated with such immense respect! She made me feel like my art and heart mattered. I have this extremely positive outlook on Deep Ellum being the true heART of Dallas. Deep Ellum has had its misconceptions, and I still find it to be an incredibly alluring place. The smells, the atmosphere, the weird, and quirky parts that a
Rick VanHook
I am married to a Texas girl from Burleson who is also an artist and we both have always enjoyed coming to participate in the Deep Ellum Art Festival. It is rich in history, we love the local businesses we always visit when there and the show has always been a huge success for us! The support the locals give all the artists is nothing short of amazing!!!
Erin Curry
Means home and family. I have lived in Deep Ellum for over 14 years and now live in the Cedars but have always called Deep Ellum home.
Aaron Hunt
Deep Ellum has always been a hub for art, music and culture not only for the greater DFW area but it has been that institution for me swell. I began to haunt deep plum in the early 90s and have had the pleasure of falling in love with the diverse spectrum of people that call this area home. Deep Ellum has and will continue to be what I consider my home town art district in spite of how much Dallas grows and evolves it will always be the home of those who live differently in the margins Deep Ellum is the same kind of different as me.
