My name is Jeremy Hjort and I am a Texas born artist, illustrator, and travelling vendor. I would like to take you on a journey with my art. Working with alcohol based markers and colored pencils, I try to bring classic fairy tales and pop culture to life. When creating, I use bright and contrasting color combinations to entice your eyes to see childhood imagery and stories in a much different light. What is Razorblade Art? As a young adult I loved to make street art with spray paint on the back porch. My father James Hjort Sr., a fantasy artist/author, my role model and inspiration, saw how I used razor blades as pallet knives on my paintings. This inspired him to create a long lost website devoted to showing my art, all without my knowledge. That site was called Razorblade Art. My father is no longer with us, so I call myself Razorblade Art, to ensure that he will always be part of my journey.

What does Deep ellum mean to me?

When I was younger, Deep Ellum showed me that if I worked hard enough, I could make a career in drawing, just like the amazing artists I saw at the very 1st Deep Ellum Art Festival I attended.
