I’m a life long day dreamer. I learned at a young age that I listen and think better when my hands are occupied in making something meaningful. So my hands have stayed occupied by making art, cooking food, flower arranging, working, caring for my 4 kids. Last year my partner got very sick for several months, and I knew I needed to use every resource available to help cover costs. I pursued many opportunities, and during this time I started making embroidered jewelry to sell and to manage my stress. When I contemplated my partners situation, sitting down and creating something beautiful had a calming effect on me- slowing down my racing thoughts and regulating my body. Additionally I found the medium very convenient for my life stage and the demands of parenthood- I was able to put down this art form at a moments notice to attend to my family’s needs and then pick it back up without the work suffering or supplies drying out. I enjoy connecting with people through my art, giving them a way to express themselves through unusual pieces that complement their personal style. I often think of the future wearers and I hope that they feel the same joy, empowerment, whimsy, and peace putting their jewelry on as I feel when I make it.
