I am a surrealist, whose work explores the mixed feelings of being an outsider; while trying to maintain the courage to not care. I use bright colors and collaged creatures to shape a personality that is proud to be unique. My goal is to create this concept in a whimsical fashion, which is reflective of my personality. I'm inspired by contemporary artists such as Casey Weldon, Jim McKenzie, Dorielle Cami, and Hannah Yata. I'm also inspired by the greatest of all time: Salvador Dali. I received my degree in 2005 and thereafter an internship with the Ellen Frank Illumination Arts Foundation in East Hampton, New York. For three months, I worked with other interns under Ellen Frank on some of the first paintings in the Cities of Peace series. In 2007, I moved back to Texas to pursue art in my hometown, and have shown work in various group shows around the DFW area. My most notable achievement in this creative adventure was being selected by Ron English to participate in the Surreal Salon 10 group show at Baton Rouge Gallery in 2018. I decided to take the leap into a full-time art career in 2019 and currently work out of my home studio in Carrollton, Texas.

What does Deep ellum mean to me?

It's always been a place of creativity and fascination for me. I grew up in the DFW area and have been going to Deep Ellum for various events since the late 90's. I enjoy participating in art shows when I have the availability especially at Kettle and Deep Ellum Art Company. I've also participated in former Deep Ellum Arts Fest and the new DECAF that started last year. It's always a joy to show art in the area.
