My name is Cory Khatemi, I am from Lewisville, Texas. I use digital art software, traditional media including ink, marker, watercolor, and graphite pencils. My partner Jesse Alfaro uses wire weaving techniques along with gemstones to create original designs that tie into the artwork we showcase.
I am a 4 time Texas State Fair Creative Arts Competition blue ribbon winner and 2 time Directors Award winning illustrator with a bachelors degree in Arts and Technology from UT Dallas. I have developed my passion for drawing in the form digital art including fashion illustration and western visions
What does Deep ellum mean to me?
Deep Ellum means Unbridled creative resistance for marginalized communities in the DFW and inspiration to be discovered in what we have in common rather than what divides us. I love the local LGBT and drag community and draw much inspiration for my art from places like 3 Links and Double Wide with its eccentric decoration and alternative interior. The Living Dead Queers show hosted by May May Graves is always a great time as well
